Mai Pham, the chef-owner of Lemon
Grass Restaurant and Cafes in Sacramento, is the author of The Best of
Vietnamese and Thai Cooking. In 1975, Pham and her family were
airlifted from Saigon and resettled in Washington, D.C. There she finished
college and earned a degree in journalism. She became the first Vietnamese-born
TV journalist in America. She came to California as a TV reporter and later
worked as a speechwriter for California’s Governor. In 1988, Pham decided to
follow her passion and opened a restaurant. Today, in addition to teaching and
working on her second cookbook, she oversees four Lemon Grass
locations.
