Wu Kang

Wu Kang was a shiftless clever fellow who changed his anticipation ships all the time.  He started out as a farmer. On seeing his crops growingWu Kang with no difficulty, he decided that farming was not enough of a challenge, and so he apprenticed himself to a furniture maker.  On being told by his master that in another three to five years, he would be able to make a reasonable furniture; he gave up and decided to take up business.  He then went to work in shop where a similar situation occurred, so he again gave up and decided to be an immortal instead.

Wu Kang then went to live in the mountains where he importuned an immortal to teach him.  First the immortal taught him about the herbs used to cure sickness, but after three days his characteristic restlessly returned and he asked the immortal to teach him something else. Therefore, the immortal teach him chess, but again after a short time his enthusiasm waned.

Wu Kang was then given the books of immortality to study.  Naturally, he became bored within a few days and asked if he could travel to some new and exciting place.  Angered with Wu Kang's impatience, the master suggested the Moon Palace, and he banished Wu Kang there saying that Wu Kang had to chop down the cassie tree before he could return to earth.  If the cassie tree was not totally chopped down in one day, it would become whole the next day.  With his lack of patience, Wu Kang did not finish chopping the tree in one day; therefore, he is up there chopping still.
